It’s Time!

01/26/2016

I’ve been silent for awhile on the subject…but…IT’S TIME.  Time to talk beginnings, time to talk changes, time to talk to talk about improvements.  On ourselves, our relationships, and within the world around us that we have the power to change for the better.  Oh yeah, it’s also time to talk RUNNING…to talk TRAINING…to talk The Chester County Half Marathon & Memorial 5k!

My 2016 race schedule is stacking up!  Registered for 3 races, looking to a 4th and 5th, with no distance less than 9 miles in duration.  If you consider the fact that I run the ChesCo Half (or CCH) the week before the actual race, then that’s 4 events for certain, 1 most likely, and 1 probably.  But enough about me!  I want to tell you why you should CONSIDER running (if you never have), why you should push yourself if you ALREADY run, and ultimately why you should register for the 2nd annual Chester County Half Marathon & Memorial 5k.

CONSIDER running: running is good for you.  Period.  Ask any runner (and yes, most of us are nuts.  But we are the fun kind of nuts that people like to hang around).  It is good for your body, good for your mind, good for your spirit – and barring any physical limitations, anyone can run.  A wise friend (looking at you, Becky H.!!) once said, “anybody can run.  You ran when you were a kid, and you can run now too.  Anybody can do it.”  Granted – based on your level of physicality, it may be difficult (although it WILL become easier).  You CAN do it, and we at the CCH will help you.  All you need to do is be able to walk or walk/jog one mile.  Did you know our Memorial 5k is family and walker friendly?  Check out the achievable 5k training plan on our website! www.chescohalf.com/training

ALREADY run: it’s a BIG jump from a 5k to a half.  I know that running isn’t for everyone – some people just hate it.  However, if you have THOUGHT about MAYBE giving the half a try, you should do it.  The sense of accomplishment alone is worth it…training for and running this distance teaches your body and spirit that you can do anything you set your mind to.  The only limitations are those you are placing on yourself; it becomes a metaphor for life.  Running is also a commitment to yourself – it is empowering, uplifting, a journey on which you will reap rewards: perseverance, focus, tenacity, and ultimately HEALTH.

WHY you should register for this event:  it’s a TON OF FUN!   Yes, it’s challenging…but that is part of the fun!  We take care of our runners with awesome swag, and every finisher gets a medal (yes, even the 5k runners!).  There are free training plans on our website, and beginning in February, we will be offering group training runs in and around West Caln!  There is a new sticker design for 2016 – but you will need to join a training run to receive one (or register for the CCH).  We’ll be handing these out after the runs!  Finally, here are just some of our upgrades/enhancements for 2016:

  • Course change. First big hill eliminated!!!!
  • Pasta Dinner with Key Note Speaker author Jen Croneberger!
  • Onsite awards ceremony
  • Hot breakfast for runners
  • Beer garden featuring Victory Beer
  • Free race photography, searchable by bib number and available within hours of the event
  • Additional water station
  • Cash prize to top overall male/female winners
  • other fun surprises, to be announced…

P.S. there is a price increase upcoming…register now before prices increase on 2/1/2016.  I challenge you to challenge yourself, and promise to help however possible on your journey.  If you have questions, concerns, ideas, or just want to drop me a line, please do!  [email protected]

happy running! <3,

jess r.
